Dear Parents,
In furthering our commitment to the school's mission of partnering with parents in the education of their children, I appreciate the feedback that I receive daily from you. I have received several requests to enhance our communication efforts with you about activities, events, and changes that are occurring at Imagine South Lake Charter.
First, I am happy to share with you that our school website is undergoing reconstruction. In the meantime, we will be posting more regular information to our existing school website. On the main page, you will find highlights of recent news and a list of upcoming events. We also are adding more pictures, including those of our staff, so that you will be able to place names with faces of those on campus.
Another section of our website that is getting an overhaul is my Principal’s page. This portion eventually will appear as a blog on the new site. Until we make the switch, Messages from Mary will be a dedicated space to give parents an opportunity to provide affirmative feedback or ask questions. My door is always open, and you are welcome to come by or call anytime to speak with me in person. If you would prefer to submit questions or concerns anonymously or think a broader communication about an issue is needed to our school community, you can drop them in the “Parent Feedback” box in the front office. If you would like a response back to you personally, please be certain to include your name and contact information. I will post questions and provide responses on the Messages from Mary page.
At this time, I also would like to address some changes that have occurred in recent weeks. Sometimes changes at this point in the school year may be concerning, which is understandable. We have experienced several staffing changes, particularly in the middle school grades. While I would love to provide you more detailed information about these changes, I am limited by personnel privacy policies. I hope that you realize that there are times when staff must depart for personal or medical reasons. While some staff may tell their students, our school policy is to respect the privacy of our staff. When a staffing change occurs, we diligently work to hire the best person to join our school family. Permanent new hiring cannot happen overnight, and we take seriously our obligation to give the students the best teacher to lead their classroom. At this time, I can share the following:
Ms. Fitzgerald is teaching the 7th grade Civics class.
Mrs. Hill is teaching middle school Computer Science.
Mrs. Linton is teaching the 8th grade Reading/Language Arts class.
1st grade teacher Mrs. Moore is still out, and Mrs. Ault is substituting for the remainder of the year.
Our ESE teacher Mrs. Ramos will be returning on May 7.
Increasing our communication efforts will strengthen our school community and provide more opportunities for constructive feedback. Every day is a learning experience, and we are always looking for opportunities to improve. Thank you for being a vibrant part of our school community.
Sincerely,
Mary Briggs
Imagine South Lake Charter Principal
